[First-Ever Award!] C. maxima coerulea 'Dulce Azul' BM/JOGA (Div.)

'Dulce Azul' was entered at the 80th JOGA Orchid Show held in March 2026 and awarded a Bronze Medal. This is the first JOGA award received to date, and it is a milestone of great significance. We will continue our efforts to breed outstanding varieties and to supply quality plants to enthusiasts around the world.

'Dulce Azul' was selected by a Japanese grower from a batch of Ecuadorian seedlings. Its parentage is no longer on record, but it is believed to be Gigi × Angelo. The plant has a large, robust habit, with most pseudobulbs exceeding 60 cm. It is a heavy bloomer: it has carried more than ten flowers per spike for three consecutive years, reaching thirteen flowers on a single spike last year and twelve on the awarded spike this year. The spike is naturally upright and the inflorescence is compact. The flower form is excellent; even after more than ten days in bloom the petals remain flat and do not reflex, and the lip is very flat. The flower is medium in size, approximately 11–12 cm. The color is fairly deep, and richer coloration can be achieved under ample light and cool temperatures.
