Mystacidium capense × sib (Goliath × Carrie Chu FCC/AOS)

Mystacidium (which may be rendered in Chinese as "齿须兰") is a genus native to Africa and a close relative of Aeranthes. The species epithet capense is said to refer to the Cape of Good Hope. Put together, the name means the "Cape mystacidium."

The plant is fairly miniature, yet a single spike can bear around ten flowers. The blooms are essentially colorless, with only the stigma a pale yellow, and the spur is long and slender. IOSPE describes the species as night-fragrant, with a jasmine-like scent.

This plant was purchased this February at the Tokyo Dome Orchid Show from the South African nursery Afri Orchids, and it flowered the same year.
